Things to do in Korea: Oneday Hanbok – 원데이한복 Hanbok rental

How could one miss out on wearing the traditional costume when in Korea? Naturally, when I came to korea I went to research on the Hanbok rental shops available here and I chanced upon One Day Hanbok!

http://www.onedayhanbok.com/

As one day Hanbok offers rental for their hanbok on a 4 hours (15,000) or one day (28,000) basis, it was the perfect choice because I only wanted to experience wearing a hanbok without the commitment of being in it the whole day.

To rent the hanbok, the following things are required:

  • Copy of ID card + Hanbok Rental Deposit of 50,000 Korean Won per Hanbok.

  • OR deposit ID card + Hanbok Rental Deposit of 10,000 Korean Won per Hanbok

  • As a substitute an ID card, a valid Passport or Korean Alien Registration Card will be accepted * In case of group booking (max. 6 people), only 1 ID card is required

Choice of outfit:

Once you are at the place, the friendly staff will gauge your size and inform you on the sections you are able to pick your hanbok from. Hanbok of different sizes would be classified seperately so it would be easier to look for a hanbok of your liking. There would be two chance of fitting, and extra times of fitting would cost you 2000 KRW.

If you are afraid of size misfit, you can request to try on the outerwear first instead of the whole hanbok. The staff was so kind to advise me on what kind of hanbok would suit me and lend a helping hand when I was struggling with it. As the fabric was light in colour, I was advised to wear a white or nude undershirt in future to prevent the black shirt from showing through. Do take note!

Friendly staff helping me to tie a bow! Hehe.

Next, I headed to their Vanity room where they had hair curlers and straighters ready for use!

You are also able to choose from the many variety of hair accessories that they have. As you can see in the pictures later, I opted for the flower circlet and headband instead of the traditional hair ribbon.

They have shelves for you to deposit your bags so you do not have to worry if you happen to lug around alot of stuff. You can simply leave it for safe keeping!

Photography service

Sangjun from One Day Hanbok very enthusiastically recommended me a few places to roam, such as the Gyeongbokgung palace, Changdeokgung palace and Bukchon Hanok Village, of which I explored the Bukchon Hanok Village! Fret not if you want to capture the pretty moments but have no one to do so for yourself, family or friends because One Day Hanbok partners with photographers. You simply have to drop them an equiry.
